Week ending 24/4/11
Goals from previous week: Post more musings, do some marking, avoid unnecessary spending and do some adventuring in the local area.
I actually managed to avoid unnecessary spending and only bought something that I knew I wanted later, but made a huge saving. I’m midway through ‘some’ marking. I didn’t do much adventuring in the end, but had a very busy and rewarding week with everyone anyway. I didn’t have a mooch day all week.
Books I finished this week: The Piper’s Son by Melina Marchetta. It was great although it ended way too quickly. I think there’s room for another book.
Favourite things this week: having the family come to me rather than having to live out of an aircraft friendly suitcase for my holidays, movie marathons with everyone (especially the dance movies with Megan), the Highland Gathering on a perfectly sunny day with great people and watching all Pirates of the Caribbean in a row so the final one makes sense.
Biggest disappointment this week: turns out I left an important power adapter at my last school some 1000kms away… and much awaited packages from Threadless and Thinkgeek did not beat the loooooong weekend.
Can’t get enough of: more pilates, Milky Way chocolate eggs
Spud happenings: Spud went into his ‘kneading’ zone many times. He also stole a straw out of my bag and tended his grass garden in a not very tender way.
Goals for next week: finish current marking and get to bed at a reasonable time every night.
Can’t we have another week of holidays so I can do it all again?
Week ending 16/4/11
Goals from previous week: read books and do more pilates
Books I finished this week: Mercy by Rebecca Lim and Saving Francesca by Melina Marchetta (again). The former looks like a good new series with the next book due in May. The latter is my favourite book of all time. I’m about to start reading the sequel.
Favourite things this week: Apart from Spud being more delightful than ever I really liked my Clinique goodies, pilates Youtube finds and re-reading Saving Fracesca. Oh and this:
Biggest disappointment this week: Suckerpunch. Red Riding Hood was also disappointing, but I was already suspicious about its director.
Can’t get enough of: Mint Aero cholocolate, pilates and chai lattes
Spud happenings: He furballed twice, hugged every wall in the house and tried to climb on me numerous times while I was on the toilet, but above all else has been a good little holiday companion. I wake up with him curled up beside me every morning. I don’t feel him jump up because he doesn’t knead me when he gets up. It’s a nice little surprise.
Goals for next week: Post more musings, do some marking, avoid unnecessary spending and do some adventuring in the local area.
I wonder what happened back on September 24th that made me stop posting? I think I went on holidays and that was the end of that. Time to get back into my daily musings some 7 months down the track…
I wonder if the pseudoscorpion bit me? I’ve got this bite that I thought was a mozzie bite and the swelling has now extended a third of the way down my forearm. It’s not painful or overly itchy, but it sure is bulgey!
Today I found out there is such a thing as a pseudoscorpion:

So… today I curled my hair with my straightener.
Tonight I learnt many great insults that do not employ profanity and roll right off the tongue in stressful situations. That’s what I call ‘professional development’.
Spring returns to the south and with it, my love of strawberries. Bliss…
I just went to do the washing up and discovered my gloves were sitting on the bottom under a pile of stuff. Now the insides are all wet, I don’t have spares and I refuse to wash up in anything but hot water.
No washing up for me tonight
I’ve been pretty good with maintaining this musings challenge. I’ve managed to post something everyday, although sometimes I don’t post until just after midnight so it looks like I’ve missed the odd day. My next challenge is to drink 1.5 litres of water per day. I used to do this by keeping my water bottle next to my lipbalm or hand cream, but now I’m addicted to lipglosses and I have too many spread around so that plan has kind of failed. I need a new tactic. Maybe I should guzzle some water from my big water bottle every time I access my email tab or open the fridge or something. It’s much easier to do this when at home because all I want to drink at school is chai latte.
